Booster’s custom blend of essential oils is comparable to the trademarked “Thieves” products by Young Living; however, our custom blend is not the same. We have tried our best to recreate the historical Marseille’s Remedy formulation dated back in 1413, which combines clove, lemon, cinnamon, eucalyptus, and rosemary essential oils with added poppy seeds for exfoliation. All the essential oils in this recipe are 100% natural. The potential benefits of Booster's custom blend of essential oils include boosting the immune system, promoting respiratory health, and fighting microbes. Although some of these benefits are anecdotal, the individual components of our blend of essential oil have been shown to have antimicrobial properties. This means they may help kill bacteria, fungi, or viruses when used topically on the skin.

  •   The historical folklore of Marseille’s remedy. According to the long-told historic tale, the use of this blend of essential oils dates all the way back to the year 1413 in Marseille, France, the time of the infamous Bubonic Plague (aka The Black Death) that devastated a large portion of France. The Black Death spread like wildfire among the citizens and the doctors alike. It seemed impossible to be in the vicinity without contracting it, and at that time, the sickness really did mean ultimate demise.

However, four thieves were captured and charged with stealing from the sick and dying during this time. The thieves never contracted the plague, despite the close contact with the Black Death victims. At this time, the crime these 4 men committed was punishable by burning alive. The judge was so intrigued by how these men stayed immune to the terrible disease that he told them if they shared their secret, he would spare them the fiery punishment.

The thieves told the judge their secret: they were perfume & spice merchants who were without work due to the closure of the seaports and the devastation of the plague. They had prepared an essential oil recipe that kept them safe from infection when applied to their hands, ears, temples, feet, and masks over their mouths. The judge stayed true to his word, and the men were not burned alive but instead were hanged for their crimes.
